MAHARATHI, a Shivam Nair directed film which is all set for release this Friday, is about a man (Naseeruddin Shah) who shoots himself after throwing a challenge to his wife (Neha Dhupia) to make his death sound like a murder and then go on to benefit from insurance.

“Maharathi” is based on Paresh Rawal’s Gujarati play of the same name. The play, a thriller, has been running for the last 21 years and has already had 700 shows so far.
